Privacy policy

Short version: we do not ask for your name, your email or anything about the person you are researching. Nothing you type into the tools on this site is ever sent to us.

What we do not collect

This matters more here than on most sites, because people arrive at Stone & Marker at a difficult moment and often while dealing with a death in the family.

• We have no contact form, no newsletter and no account system. There is nowhere on this site to give us your name, email address or phone number.
• Nothing you enter into our tools is transmitted anywhere. The eligibility checker, the cost estimator and the pre-need checklist all run entirely inside your own browser. Your answers never reach our servers, because we do not have any servers that receive them.
• The pre-need checklist saves your ticked boxes in your own browser's local storage so the list is still there when you come back. That data stays on your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.
• We do not collect, store or process any information about a deceased person.

What is collected automatically

Two analytics services run on this site. Neither identifies you personally to us.

Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and which are not. It records things like the pages viewed, how long a visit lasted, the approximate geographic region, the device and browser type, and the source that referred you here. It uses cookies and similar technologies.

We see this as aggregate statistics. We cannot use it to identify an individual visitor.

Google's own handling of this data is governed by their policies. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data entirely by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using any of the widely available browser settings and extensions that block analytics.

Cloudflare

This site is served by Cloudflare, which provides hosting and security. Cloudflare collects basic request data as part of delivering the site and protecting it from abuse, and runs a privacy-focused analytics script that does not use cookies to track individuals across sites.

Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer may pay us a commission at no additional cost to you.

When you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer typically sets a cookie so it can attribute the sale. That cookie is set by them, on their site, under their privacy policy — not by us. We do not receive your name, address, payment details or order contents. At most we see that a sale occurred and what commission was earned.

Fonts

Typefaces on this site are served from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers to fetch them. That request includes your IP address, as any web request does.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

• Block analytics. Browser settings, privacy extensions and the Google opt-out add-on all work. Nothing on this site breaks if you do.
• Clear the checklist. Clearing your browser's site data removes anything the pre-need checklist has stored.
• Avoid affiliate cookies. Simply don't click the links, or use private browsing.

Data we hold about you

None that identifies you. Because we operate no account system, no mailing list and no contact form, there is no personal record for us to look up, correct, export or delete.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. We do not have your email address, so we cannot notify you directly — which is rather the point.
